Hi Kunal and Karan, as everyone is aware, both of you have been models in the past, so how did acting happen to you and what made you choose daily soaps?

Kunal: Well, Karan is my elder brother and his first role actually was in an episodic show, Koi Aane Ko Hai’. And since childhood, I have always looked up to him and saw him do acting too. However, we had a family business to take care of and hence, Karan stayed back in Delhi and asked me to go ahead and pursue my dreams. He is surely a father/brother to me.

Karan: I started with modelling and also participated in the Mr. India World back in 2008. Soon, I got an opportunity to act in Koi Aane Ko Hai’, after which I went back to Delhi. Since, we lost our father at an early age, when I was 16 and Kunal was 15, I had to take care of our business. I kept getting several opportunities, but honestly, acting was never on my mind. It was only modelling for me, but a fantastic script came to me and that’s that.

How does it feel to have two shows on the same channel and the sheer coincidence of it?

Kunal: Well, it is surely a blessing. Nothing can be better than this. Today, when my mother sits in front of the television watching Zee Tv and she witnesses the promo of Brahmarakshas’, soon followed by Zindagi Ki Mahek’, I can see the glare of happiness and pride in her eyes. Her face lit with happiness and the fact that we are together intact makes her proud and makes us happy.

Supernatural and horror shows have been the real trend lately. However, what do you guys feel works better? Supernatural shows or social drama shows?

Kunal: When I started ‘Brahmarakshas’, it was a show that was anticipated but not many people could relate to it right away. However, today the show is topping the charts and I think it is the essence of supernatural shows that establishes a connection with the audience. People want to see something new and with ‘Brahmarakshas’, the title was an anomaly otherwise, but a known term in the rural areas. And when it comes to family dramas, there is an audience for it too and if there is a good script and well execution, they can work wonders too.

Karan: Of course, supernatural thrillers have been absolute winners lately, courtesy the success of several shows. However, I knew I did not want to do something like that. I wanted to do something different; something with which I can relate to and feel realistic about. When the script of ‘Zindagi Ki Mahek’ came to me, I fell in love with it instantly.

Several TV actors, in the past, have tried their hands at Bollywood after being successful on television. The success ratio has not been a real convincing one. What are your plans for the same in future?

Kunal: In the future, if anything worthy and really meaty pops up pertaining to films, I will surely not be hesitant to take it up. However, I am far away from that yet, as rather than being successful, I have to first keep improving myself as an actor and that will take time. Once, I am worthy enough and if I get something, I will surely do it.

Karan: Just like Kunal said, I feel the same. Movies are a platform for the larger masses and I would not think twice to take up something good in future when offered.

Well, while Kunal aka Ved will keep getting better in ‘Brahmarakshas – Jaag Utha Shaitaan’, we cannot wait for Karan’s debut in ‘Zindagi Ki Mahek’.

We wish the brother-duo all the best and lots of good wishes..!
